25. I wish I still was doing rockabilly; there's lots of very good guitar players
who still can't quite do it right...just from your obvious musical knowledge that I can see in your music related posts, I'm guessing you understand how to do it right... I'd also really love to do a political band, with influences including Springsteen ,The Clash and Rancid, Rage Against The Machine, The Doors among others, before I'm too old to rock ( and based on how much my back hurt after my gigs this weekend, that day may be in the process of arriving). I really do wish sometimes that I was in an area with enough radical musicians to put a great political band together, doing both covers and originals, and ideally including players of various ethnic/racial identities, ages, genders, etc... That's one thing I've always wanted to do and it looks like it probably will never happen. Oh well.....:headbang:

44. Yeah my days are pretty much done - I used to play bass, and my fingers
took a real beating over the decades. I play mostly guitar now, but just in my home.....

I have been thinking about doing some recording, but that's a long way off - but it might be an answer to your wants - record instead of forming a stage band.
Just a thought.

Good luck, old timer.

ADDED: Les Paul played on stage 1 night every week in NYC till a few months before his death at 93. He had a lot of players in his audience, and used to greet some of the older(40's or 50's) rockers by asking , "Still playin', huh?"

8. Disaster Area.
From the work of Douglas Adams...

Disaster Area, a plutonium rock band from the Gagrakacka Mind Zones, are generally held to be not only the loudest rock band in the history of the Galaxy, but the loudest noise of any kind at all.

Regular concert-goers judge that the best sound balance is usually to be heard from within large concrete bunkers some thirty-seven miles from the stage, whilst the musicians themselves play their instruments by remote control from within a heavily insulated spaceship which stays in orbit around the planet - or more frequently around a completely different planet.

Many worlds have now banned their act altogether, sometimes for artistic reasons, but most commonly because the band's PA system contravenes local strategic arms limitation treaties.

26. I believe they got that from the Shirley MacLaine/Gene Kelly movie...
"What a Way To Go" -- Kelly's character rises from obscurity to stardom, and when he's a hotshot, he makes a movie called "Flaming Lips" -- I think you just see and hear references to it, not the actual "film" itself. The whole thing is kind of a farce.

It's a pretty good movie... also has Paul Newman (whose character is Larry Flint), Dean Martin, and Robert Mitchum. Shirley wears some pretty far-out outfits, but does have a memorable bikini scene or two -- she was in great shape back in the day.

56. The Quarrymen---(and this interesting note from wikipedia)
Lennon and McCartney continued to write songs together, but as no engagements were forthcoming, Harrison asked to join Storm's Tornados, but Storm's mother refused, saying Harrison was far too young. Harrison then joined The Les Stewart Quartet with Les Stewart, guitarist Ken Brown, and a young man known only as Skinner.
