1. great songwriter.
he's written so many he can't remember them all. mary gauthier (say go-shay) said she was on-stage with him and he was taking requests, and to some requests he would just shrug and say 'um, nope, that's gone' or 'can't recall that one' .... :)

2. Sand Mountain
Edited on Sun Mar-21-04 11:22 PM by cooper82
I've never owned a Guy Clark recording but I really enjoyed his shows a little folk club in the Montrose area of Houston named Sand Mountain. He performed there regularly as well as his wife Susan, Townes van Zandt,Lighten Hopkins, Don Sanders and his name escapes me but he wrote Mr Bo Jangles. It was a great place and a great time.

What are you hungry for - chicken fried steak, a #1, #2 or #3 Mexican food plate, or just anything dipped in batter and fried up crispy?

Jerry Jeff Walker, maybe?

7. Chicken Fried Steak (and not one of those cardboard out of
the box frozen models, but good round beef steak sliced thick and pounded out thin, hand dipped and fried in a skillet till its golden) with thick white gravy on the side;

Fried Okra -little nugets of heaven, egg washed and lightly breaded in stone ground yellow cornmeal, and gently coaxed to crispy perfection;

chunky potatoes, mashed with the skin still on (cause mamma always said that's where the vitamins are - and what the hell, they just taste better that way) gently whipped with heavy cream and pure country butter from Falfurrias Creamery;

pinto beans, NOT out of a can, but simmered all day with cilantro, (and just maybe a jalapeno swimmin' in there) own juices;

Bid ears of sweet Texas yellow corn, roasted over mesquite, drippin' in Falfurrias Butter.

Sliced vine ripened in the Texas sun home grown 'maters (and DON'T slice 'em so thin there's only one side to 'em, boys!) with a little salt & pepper;

A BIG ole pitcher of sweetened ice tea that will quench a thirst from Laird's Barbecue in Llano Texas (NOTE: Cooper's Barbecue is a bunch of BUSH SHIT -- and he can damn well eat it, too!!!!)

Peach Cobbler made lovingly fom the real thing, fresh and juicy hand picked Hill Country peaches, just like grandma used to make, and topped with Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream. (and save some of them peaches for later!)

MMMM MM!

Gooder'n a pig in slop.

Barbecue tommorrow, boys!

5. What tickles me is that he does "Taco Cabana" commercials now
Watch TV long enough, and there he is, hawking Taco Cabana's "Mexican" cuisine.

8. What I was gettin at, is does anybody know where I can get
some of Guy's records (tapes/CDs or whatever)

I used to have some of his records, but my whole damn record collection got lost in one of our moves. My cousin used to do photos for record covers, and did the one (I can't remember which one) That had TEXAS COOKIN,RITA BALLEW, and some other good stuff.

I have not been able to find any duplicates anywhere.

I am temporarily stuck up here in Washington state - there is nothing more forlorn than a misplaced Texan - and I need to get hold of some of his music.

9. Try Amazon.com...
First, I'd check any local music stores.

If none of them carry Guy's stuff, go online. It appears that most of his music is available for ordering.
