1. I'm 37 and I've been in many a truck stop restaurant over the years

And I've been called "hon" by waitresses ranging in age from 18 to 70. I'm cool with that. It's kind of like truckers saying, "Preciate it." Doesn't matter how old you are or how long you've been trucking, if you've been listening to the CB more than an hour you are going to start telling people, in some form, that you appreciate them. It's a nice thing to say in a tough world.

I grew up in a "hon" world...there is a restaurant in San Jose, the Cardinal Coffee Shop, where the waitresses will occasionally call me "hon" or "dear." You're right...it is a nice thing to say in a tough world.
