I'm not a big fan of rap, but I like some of his stuff--and a love this song! He was born in Somalia and grew up in NY.

1. That's nice.

Unlike most of my 30ish white peers, I knew I liked rap the first time I ever heard it. I knew shortly thereafter that it needed to be an *element* of songs, not a *genre* unto itself.

I was reminded of this when I saw Snoop Dog doing his lame self-referential self-plagiarizing shit on Colbert last night.


K'Naan seems to be expanding/exploring the genre, and actually making music.
