I've been using my old PowerBook G4 when at home and it's:
17:01 up 68 days, 20:55, 2 users, load averages: 0.80 0.44 0.30

1. Well, the Mac Mini is running at 67 days, 8:11. |
|
I forget why I shut it down the last time, but I think it was the first time since February or March.
I've got a Win98 SE box working on a year and my HP Linux MI netbook hasn't been rebooted since I got it in August. The Vista machines all need regular reboots to keep their "constitutionals" in good order.

2. Dell computer using Vista |

Uptime is 4 hours and 32 minutes. I frequently shutdown after every use. Just a quirk of mine.

3. Vist runs better that way - if you can wait freakin' forever for it to boot. |
|
I remember thinking that Win 95 took a long time to boot. Vista is beyond belief.
I did discover that my laptop is old enough that it actually considers an SD card to be fast enough for ReadyBoost or whatever they call it. That doesn't help for shit with the boot time, but it does make it wake up from sleep mode almost immediately. Prior to that, it could take a while for it to pull in the cache from the hard drive. Three of our other four laptops are apparently too fast for an SD card to be of any benefit. The last one was purchased about the same time as mine and I haven't tried it with that one yet.
