1. ~
Have yourself a merry merry Christmas
Have yourself a good time
But remember the kids who got nothin'
While you're drinkin' down your wine

3. .
But give my daddy a job 'cause he needs one
He's got a lot of mouths to feed
But if you've got one, I'll have a machine gun
So I can scare all the kids down the street

4. I grew UP with this one.
My dad is a HUGE Kinks fan. This was literally part of my childhood carol indoctrination. I'm glad of that.

I'm named after a Kinks song. Yup. No, my name isn't Lola.

6. Ain't it?
There is so much spiritually and morally appalling Christmas schlock out there, and more every year.

This one is both catchy and honest.

10. Mine too.
It's like a version of "The Little Match Girl" where she kicks some serious ass.

12. Thanks, I agree!
And if it comes down to a drinking argument, I will back Davies/Davies as a songwriting powerhouse of the late 20th century right up there with Dylan, Cohen, Lennon/McCartney, and Jagger/Richards. The Kinks have a SHITLOAD of songs this good.

13. Preservation Act II Is a neglected masterpiece.(1970) Double album
Better than Village Green Preservation Society, although it too is good.

Shepherds of the Nation
(Played by tired salvation army band)

Down with sex and sin
Down with vice
Heroin
Down with pornography
Down with lust
Down with vice
Lechery
and dee-baucheryyyyy..

Put all the pervs in jail
Bring back the birch
and the cat o nine tails

Bring back corporal punishment
Bring back the stocks
and the axman's block
Let righteousness prevail!

Down with nudity
Breasts that are bare
and pubic hair
We're here to cleanse humanity
From the man in the raincoat's
palefaced glare
Let sodomites beware!

We are the New Centurions
Shepherds of the Nation
We'll be on our guard
For sin and degradation
We are the National Guard
Against filth and vulgarity
perversion, bestiality,
homosexuality
keep it clean, keep it clean, keep it clee-ee-a-n

(it goes on...)

14. If I ever get married (unlikely at this point)
I want the husband/wife first dance to be to "Mirror of Love."

15. Honestly, unlikely.
I've blocked it out in my mind (pure fantasy, mind you, I have no fiance). The father/daughter dance needs to be "Waterloo Sunset." Just cause.
