it's a grinder. My grandmother was from CT and she actually used to call them "Guinea Grinders", after years of trying, we got her to drop the "Guinea", probably never did figure out why it was offensive though

a Poor Boy in my day. But what they call them now a days depends on where you buy them. ;)
