OMG fried cheese curds at A & W!
I indulged in a little junk food yesterday while waiting to meet someone in Tucson. I haven't been to A & W since they were an old fashioned curb service place WAY back when (I think before I was driving age even) although I had heard their burgers were pretty good. There is one in the small town where we usually shop, but it's not a drive in and I don't do walk-in junk food (I mean if I am getting out of the car I want real food)

So, I had to meet someone at a highway intersection and the pace chosen happened to have an - you guessed it - A & W drive through! I was going to get a burger and some O-rings, but when I pulled up there was a faded add for thier cheese curds on the window. Well who am I to avoid FRIED CHEESE? I skipped the onion rings (I'm a martyr, I know) and got the burger and the delicious little crispy fried morsels of chewy greasy goodness! OMG I can't wait to go back.:9

Why didn't somebody TELL me? I may walk in for those!

2. Cheese curds:
Cheese curds are the fresh curds of cheese, often Cheddar. They are generally available in retail stores operated at cheese factories throughout the countries of Canada and the United States (especially in the USA's Upstate New York, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Michigan, and Canada's provinces of Ontario, Quebec, and New Brunswick where they can be found in many grocery stores.)

Canadian treat, "poutine" (served at McDonald's and elsewhere):

(gravy, french fries, cheese curds).

6. Poutine is "fat cubed" I say. Even KFC makes poutine in Canada.

11. There's a restaurant in Cambridge, MA that has poutine.
Tasty stuff, but I can only eat so much of it. Which is probably a good thing.

3. well I hhave heard of them in places like Wisconsin, but never had anything authentic
these were kind of like those generic fried mozzarella sticks you can get from any place that sells food-service food, but much better and small bite size pieces. Supposedly white cheddar, but not as tangy as good cheddar, for sure. But for a drive through junk food treat? HELL YEAH - YUM!

8. You are a living example of why Lipitor sales are $13B, bigger than the GDP of Lesotho and Swaziland
combined.

I feel very bad for Pfizer by the way, since the patent expires in 2011.

After that happens, you should be able to pick up a month's supply of Atorvastatin for the cost of a fried lump of cheese at an A&W.

:-)

I figure once a year won't kill me.
