for all the DUers' furbabies who have passed...
Edited on Fri Dec-25-09 03:00 AM by musette_sf
Seems like we've had a wave of DUers' furbabies passing on over the past few days.

So...

for all the new arrivals to the Rainbow Bridge...

and for all the DUers with beloved furkids who have passed...

Remember all the love you shared...

and know they are all in a good place, at....

1. Thank you. Let's share funny memories of our friends who have gone ahead.
I have so many of late Marlowe (big beige tabby, 1992-2006).

We'll take this one.

When Marlowe and I lived with my ex and his cat Digory, they reinforced each other's bad habits. They were total trash bandits. We called them "the little raccoons."

One night when I was being insomniac, I watched Marlowe at work. He didn't just knock the kitchen trash can over and scatter the goods all over the floor like Digs did. He was *delicate* and *skilled*. He's stand up on his back paws and reach his claws deeep within like a miniature tan bear, to get precisely what he wanted.

A year and a half after he'd passed and Greg and I were moving out (apart), *every single* piece of plush furniture we moved aside and pulled apart was chock full of years' worth of completely picked-clean chicken bones.

2. My rabbit, Paulie (1990-2001)
Edited on Fri Dec-25-09 10:29 AM by Mad_Dem_X
Paulie was a Dwarf Rabbit, white with the prettiest blue eyes. And he was very smart. He and I would play a game I called "Chase Me." I would chase him around the room, then turn around, and he would chase me.

Then, there was "Pyramid." I'd lie down on the sofa, on my stomach, and he would jump from the arm of the sofa onto the middle of my back. Then, I'd get up on my hands and knees and we'd just stand there.

I had a pink, fuzzy robe that he liked to, um, get friendly with. Whenever I had the robe on, and held him against me, he'd start humping it. So I started calling my robe "Paulie's girlfriend."

He's been gone almost nine years now, and I've had two other rabbits since then, but I still think about him all the time.

3. my big guy, yossarian
we had to help him cross the bridge in early september.

and a wider view of the scene

that second picture tells you so much more about what kind of guy he was than i ever could. he came to us in late 1995 as part of a litter that a semi-feral had dropped behind the house across the street (the tenants had packed up and disappeared in the middle of the night, leaving behind a number of cats).

he was such a sweet little kitten with the biggest ears i've ever seen. he grew into his ears and became a very large and fine cat, but he still talked to us from time to time like he was still that little kitten.

he'd nip at your toes if you weren't paying attention to him and he wanted you to. he was the alpha, but he was mellow enough to let my girl think she was the one in charge, at least until she got out of line with him.

he had a good, long life with us and as hard as it was to say goodbye to him, i was happy to sit with him and hold his hands at the end.

5. Black Kitty (1989-2009).
Edited on Fri Dec-25-09 08:13 PM by femmocrat
We tried other names, but always just called him Kitty.

We got him and White Kitty from the city pound, along with a rescue Yorkie, all for $10. He always lived outside and was a great gardening buddy. He never bothered the birds or chipmunks, but managed to keep the mice at bay. When he was younger he would go away for a week at a time, but always came back. I loved the sight of him running over a snowy field when he was called, meowing in reply. He was a very sweet cat, all black except for a little white "bib".

10. Thank you so much.
My Tuna liked to visit the neighbors, everybody knew where this cat lived.

I didn't know he was visting until a neighbor told me.

Tuna was well fed.

He also loved the wood stove, guess the heat felt good on his old bones.

Miss you Tuna, now you Hurricane Ike can be together again.

My little tabby guy, had a personality to match his good looks, really affectionate.

I still have Lucky, the b/w female, and now she's been joined by Charlotte, the 7-month old calico kitten.
