To apologize or not to apologize: I picked to apologize

So a few days ago there was a discussion as to why OMC was TS'd and i stated that he lied about his wife's death because i honestly thought so. There was a posting on a conservative board that was linked to that stated that he lied & that's all i had heard about the subject.

However new "evidence" has been shown to me that he didn't lie about his wife's death

So I apologize to ex Du'er OMC and his friends on DU, I was wrong to state that you/he lied about his wife's death.

OMC really hit a nerve with some people. I must have missed the ugliness, because he never treated me as badly as people have described. "Theft of a reputation" is what I call it-- when others spread untrue gossip.

Nice of you to apologize.

OMC was a train wreck here but he had a very real tragedy in his life and I always hoped that it would mitigate his trollish behavior, but alas it didn't. I still have sympathy for him and his boys for their loss.

21. I checked it out because I wanted to make a donation in her memory.

I had a pm conversation with a DUer who knew him personally and she listed the obit link for me. My donation went to the Komen Foundation and I received an acknowlegement of my gift and thanks. I didn't receive anything from OMC but I didn't really think he would be in any shape to do that. At the time I remember he was very torn up and traumatized by her death. It was so awful I was crying hard while following his posts...

It's great that you apologized, but I can understand your concerns. I guess, tho, it would have been the better part of valor to check it "in house" at DU first....
