Would you go to a concert w/ a stranger?

I've got an extra ticket to Aimee Mann's show at Hampton Beach this Saturday night. So far, I've had 3 different people say they would come w/ me only to back out.

There's a DU gathering in Boston on Saturday, and I was thinking maybe I'd offer up the ticket there. But the cautious side of me says "DUers or no, you don't really know these people."

Then again, if it's a Boston-area DUer, they could take their own vehichle... and that would make me feel a lot safter.

Anyone got any input?

A few years ago one of my musician buddues had 5th row seats to Santana. He had given them to another fried that I didn't know but said,"hey take my friend" So the guy called me, we went and had a great time.

I needed a ride to the WBCN River Rave 2 years ago and had no way to get to Foxboro, so on a music forum I belonged to, I offered a free ticket in exchange for a ride.

Worked out great.

5. I've done it before

I love Classical music. 2 times I have gone to performances of Beethoven with someone who had sets of the best tickets in the Academy of Music. We met at the entrance sat together talked a little outside and went our separate ways. It was pleasant and fun.

10. Meet there, then there's very little risk

because you're in a public place, and you can ditch them after the concert if they give you the willies or you just don't click. There's no reason not to meet someone there and sit next to them, just don't ride with them if you're uncomfortable with it.
