Anyone a Joe Franklin Fan???

Anyone who grew up within the reach of Channel 9's signal in New York City (WOR-TV) knows who I'm talking about.

Any with the chaonies to do a newscast while stoned is okay with me and that guy has been token like mad.

Transfixed to the TeeVee station,
Burning through my brain,
Mutant news flashes from the neon grain,
I'm a reptile,

My cable company in L.A. used to carry the Franklin Show in the early 1980s -- I'd often watch if I hit the timing right.

And Billy Crystal does a mean Joe Franklin! :toast:

edit: typos

5. He Was in the Movie "Ghostbusters"
The Ghostbusters were on his talk show, and Franklin asked them if they'd heard from Elvis.

6. Uncle Floyd Used to Do A Pretty Good Impersonation, Too
He's do a parody on his show called "The Joe Frankfurter Show", and he nailed Joe's rapid-fire speech pattern:

"Lets-bring-him-out -
He's-a-classic -
He's-got-a-can-of-Martin-Paint!!!"

(For the benefit of those unfamiliar with Uncle Floyd, he has been doing a pseudo-kid's show on UHF stations in the NY area for many years.

And for those unfamiliar with Joe Franklin, he always liked to call people and things "classics". And one of his long-time sponsors was Martin Paint.)
