George Orwell was wrong about 1984 in 1948. Stanley Kubrick was wrong about 2001 in 1968.

George Orwell was wrong about 1984 in 1948. Stanley Kubrick was wrong about 2001 in 1968.
And I think we safely say at this point that the guys who did "2010" were wrong about it in 1984.

And, while it's still five years away, Robert Zemeckis will more than likely be wrong about his prediction of 2015 having hoverboards when he did "Back to the Future II" in 1989.

Will we ever have those flying cars and robots? Ever?

3. Well, Amory Lovins predicted in 1976 that we were certain to have about 20 exajoules of solar
energy by the year 2000.

In 2001, he predicted that there would by hydrogen HYPErcars in showrooms by 2005.

Oil companies pay him a lot of money to make these predictions too, and they're not supposed to be entertainment, although I would imagine that Royal Dutch Shell, Conoco and Chevron are entertained by the return on their "Green" investment.
