4. Spaghetti and meatballs
Prepared by my mommy or my nonni. But my mom's meatballs are better cause she fries them and they get all hard and burnt, just the way I like them. Plus their sauce is home made and out of this world.

8. are you italian?
I only ask because in the past month I've talked to two other people at work and both have said their moms sauce was the best (both italian also). "You haven't had sauce until you had my mom's sauce" I think were the words of one.

hehe

17. My mom's side is Italian
My nonni is her mother and yes they both make the best sauce I've ever eaten. I don't like to eat Italian food at Italian resturants b/c it's just not the same except this one place in NYC that was great but I guess not that great b/c I don't remember the name of it. It was in Greenwich Village.

12. Depends what you mean by "Italian."
I love German food, so there's lots from Northeastern Italy I dig.

For seafood, one can hardly beat Apulian or Sicilian food.

Then, of course, there's the swine around Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany.

Well, I make a damn fine black truffle risotto, I also make a killer ragu Bolognese. The Neapolitan pizza at Piccola in Wauwatosa, WI can hardly be beat.

All the foods I've mentioned come from vastly different culinary traditions, so it's really hard to say what my favorite Italian meal is.

13. crostacci or crustacce
this little italian restaurant here uses fresh seafood. lobster, jumbo shrimp and lump crabmeat in a cream/marinara sauce over homemade pasta. it is priecy (for me), but it is to DIE for.

favorite otherwise is shrimp scampi.

Saute fresh garlic and red pepper seeds in olive oil. Add tunafish, chopped artichoke hearts and capers. Mix with pasta, top with lots of fresh parmesan. I love this dish!

28. You can't get real veal in the U$
and you probably would not like it. Be it baby veal or pig, there is a slight taste of baby puck to those in the know. Veal here is 1 year-old and is been grain feed. Real veal is killed because one wants the milk and the baby (especially males, like roosters can't have to many of them or they are castrated to become steers for regular beef eating) is prevented from taking the milk, but we have artificial means to raise them upto to a year and to be sold as 'veal' (BTW in the bible the fattened calf was milk fed from its mother until slaughtered).
Humans are omnivores, in th U$ we eat too much meat, meat was a rarity and a feast.

29. Pasta And Beans
This is my husband's favorite and he coud eat it each and every day. I use chick peas and bertolini beans. My favorite is Roasted Red Pepper Sauce. It is so delicious. Right now we are coming to the end of Broccoli Rabe season. If you haven't tasted this bitter broccoli run out and buy some soon. The trick is to eat in season. It tastes so much better. ALso, Italian food in Sicily is NOT like Italian food in the USA. Something about fresh and no chemicals in the stuff.
