I want a good set of flannel sheets w/o paying a fortune. I

have to be very careful with funds, but we're moving to a colder climate and I want warm flannel sheets!

Anyone have any recommendations? I have a few flannel flat sheets, but no fitted one -- who sells single sheets, rather than sheet sets?

I've never bought flannel sheets, but I do know Lands' End sells them. They have a Home catalog; I suspect if you Googled that, you'd be able to get a catalog.

They are also online.

I have no idea if they sell anything but sheet sets, but they're worth a try...

6. I don't know what makes flannel sheets "good" but I also just bought some for $19.99

and it was for a king sized set. Actually they were $19.99 for all sizes.

I live in Wisconsin and tonight it is supposed to be -9 and I use an electric blanket and it is toasty warm. Even though the bed is a king I just bought a single sized electric blanket for $19.95 and it is great because it covers the entire top of the bed so it is just right for just me.

9. What makes the dif is the thread count, to me. That way any sheet

is nice and thick. But I don't like to use electro if I can avoid it, so I use the large thick comforter.
Cheaper always means thinner. Which ain't necessarily good.

11. I didn't see any thread count on the flannel sheets, but I can find it even on the cheapest

regular sheets. I use thick comforters as well, but I dearly love my electric blanket.

also if you go to higher thread count, while they may not be flannel, they are heavier and warmer.

we have one set that is 1000 count and hubby hates them in the summer because they are heavier and make him hotter. I use them a lot in the winter.

10. Our flannel sheets are from Target, made by Woolrich, which makes outdoor clothing,

blankets, down comforters and pillows, etc.
They are made in Turkey and Bulgaria, and seem thicker and better quality than some I've had in the past.

12. I like Land's End or The Company Store

They're both having sales right now, and they both have the 5 and 6 oz. flannel.

The main reason I like them is they add an extra six inches onto the flat sheet, so it doesn't shrink up to nothing. The fitted sheets are nice and deep, too.

we have a queen-sized tempurpedic mattress, w/fitted fleece sheets, a king-size down comforter, and a king-size velux blanket...and we stay warm as toast all night long, with the thermostat at 63.

23. checked them out yesterday, the y don't have any for a queen mattress..

looks like the stampeding herds got to the selection before Christmas. I don't "do" Christmas and avoid stores like the plague in the days before, so I am now realizing I probably missed some good deals.

Target has a nice pair, in the color I want, too....

I've found some really good teas, good crackers (FinnCrisps that I like and can never ever find at our local 'regular' grocery store), brand name cereal, etc. at Big Lots.

I've noticed though, that ever since they became a public company, their "deals" really aren't deals anymore... if the price difference is only a dollar or so, I'm not going to bother. BL used to have good deals on makeup, but the other day I noticed an eye cream for $9. WTF? If it had been $2-3, as they used to be priced, I'd have snapped up a few boxes. But at $9, I won't even buy one, b/c I can wait for a sale at the drug store and get a better deal.

Anyway. One of my pet peeves, is how Big Lots, which used to be fun to cruise for bargains, has very few bargain anymore.

Best sheets period were found there, too. They are not a Blue company, as I found out later. :(
