....I remember thinking the same thing about Jonny (Johnny?) Lang when I saw that "blues(ahem)man" front a blues power trio in a live show broadcast from HAHAHAHAHA Disney World (the REAL crossroads of all blues in America -- rumor has it that the song was originally titled, "The Devil Came Down to Orlando"). . ....His sidemen had to be forty- or fifty-something and you could read their minds as they played. GLAD for what was almost certainly a great-paying gig BUT......... "that no-dues-payin punk centerstage is what I've been reduced to jamming BEHIND". . ....I've seen classical prodigies who WERE extremely impressive at 6, 8, 10 years of age, but never, ever a blues "prodigy" that was anything more than a novelty act, like Marjoe Gortner as a child tent-revival preacher. . ....Long, long ago, our lead guitarist (who was by FAR the most musically gifted of any of us) described Yngwe Malmstein as "someone who spent WAY too many hours of his adolescence sitting in his bedroom practicing scales".
