Anyone care to check my math?

Was checking my email, and noticed a story about Warren and his Brokesaddle church raising 2.4 million dollars.

I was curious, so I read on. Apparently Warren says he raised it all in small donations, 100 or less, and only from parishioners. Also in the article was their statement that it was a tough year as 10% of their people were out of work and increased resources were needed to help them

Now, doing the math, that's 24,000 $100 donations. Wikipedia tells me that they average 20,000 churchgoers each Sunday. Which means that 120% of their congregation gave the full amount.

Makes me wonder where their money is coming from.


I also noticed a tidbit that seemed interesting further down the article. When the tsunami hit, they raised 1.6 million. Katrina hit, they raised 1.7 million. But when they have a bad budget year, thats worth 2.4 million

3. It's just plain sad that whoever reported and published ...

... this "story" never even tried to check the numbers. Warren is relying on mathematical illiteracy to hide whatever it is he's doing.
