Some people should simply not be parents.
Ran into this thread at an Asperger's/Autism message board I frequent:

http://www.aspiesforfreedom.com/showthread.php?tid=282

I found this transcript of a chat on "Dietary Interventions: GFCF and Beyond".
Its to advise parents on diet etc for kids with autism, I was horrified to read parts of it.

"Mommyo {public msg} Can you put vitamins in frozen pops without losing their potency?
Maximom229 {public msg} vitamins........
Maximom229 {public msg} Ok, there is a nice way to teach them and a not so nice way. The nice way works about 5% of the time. The not nice way is effective about 70% of the time. Ever given a cat a pill?
Mommyo {public msg} This is not fun.
Maximom229 {public msg} Lay him down on his back, use GFCF butter to grease the pill, cram it as far back in his mouth to one side as you can.
Mommyo {public msg} I hate autism.
Maximom229 {public msg} Flood his mouth with water and plug his nose.
Rebecca Attempts to comfort Mommyo.
Maximom229 {public msg} Be prepared for him to bite your finger. The feeling comes back in about a week - trust me. He will spit the pill out, and you will cram it back in.
Mommyo {public msg} lol"

What the hell are these 'experts' thinking????

so now the nuts are waterboarding their autistic kids as part of the latest BS diet fad. Jesus Christ... :puke:

5. That has always struck me as odd
We even did our own blind studies to see if it was a psychosomatic thing. It wasnt. I could tell the difference, and the teachers could always tell the difference.

I guess it seems odd to me that a generic can be different. I thought the whole idea was that it was identical, just by some manufacturer other than the one with the original patent.

8. Now are we talking a flintstone chewable here, or some woo pills that "cure" autism?
I'm guessing the latter since:

1. These are GFCF nuts.

2. They're willing to drown the kid to get them to take a pill.

12. Gluten-free/Casein-free.
It's all part of some BS woo that says gluten intolerance causes autism or some similar BS. It's basically taking all the tasty carbs out of the diet.

14. Popularized by Nut-Job and ex-pornstar Jenny McCarthy.
Who claims that it "cured" her Autistic son. Though her son probably doesn't even have Autism, but a genetic disorder with similar symptoms, Landau-Kleffner Syndrome.

9. Why don't they give them gummy chewable vitamins?
Cripes, that's beyond cruel to do what maximom suggests.
