I saw the movie "The Blind Side" today
I was ambivalent about seeing it, but as I was not the one paying, hey why not? I was impressed. An inspiring story and accolades must go to the Tuohy family that took Michael Oher in (now with the Baltimore Ravens.

They are evangelical Christians and I'm sure I would not like their politics, but they talk the talk and walk the walk. They saved someone from a life of poverty and hopelessness, even when it was not socially acceptable to do so in their white, Southern, affluent conservative community.

1. Oher's blocking
and McGahee's running are two reasons the Ravens got into the playoffs this year. Flacco's coolness under pressure helped too. GO RAVENS!

Actually, I do want to see The Blind Side, but will have to wait until it comes out on DVD since my husband wants to see it too and our 7 year old daughter wants nothing to do with football. Sigh.

3. There's really not much football in the movie.
I thought there would be more, but the focus is definitely on the family dynamic.

I doubt a 7-year old would be that interested, though.

2. The book is even better
A shame he wound up with the Ravens, but not every story has a happy ending.

4. Saw it and loved it!
I went to see it last week and absolutely loved the movie. What a different world it would be if more wealthy families took in a homeless kid or two, right?

5. Yes it would, and even better if the kids taken in had no athletic ability
nor were they the kind of kid who was academically "gifted" in any way. Just an average child needing a break.
However I loved the movie and admire the family for doing such a thing.

6. I love how she told her friends to kiss her ass

(in so many words)when they started voicing "concerns" about a black boy in her home with her daughter. Kudos to the Tuohys for having the guts to take Oher off the streets & give him a place to call home. There are not many people, liberal or conservative, who would do the same thing if presented the opportunity.

best line: Who knew we'd have a black son before we knew a Democrat?
