PSA: Airline food really IS gross.

I posted this in "Latest Breaking" (gross is a perfect word), but had something else to say that's more fit for the Lounge.

When I used to fly regularly on business, being a vegetarian that's what I asked to have for meals. Other than US Scare (which considers slimy ham sandwiches to be "vegetarian"), I got some REALLY good meals. I'm talking rice pilaf with steamed veggies, fresh fruit, bread that wasn't stale, and lots of other creations you would NEVER associate with airline food. Every single time, whoever was next to me would comment on how much better my meal was than the grease ball in sauce they had been served.

It has been a long time since I was on a plane so I don't know if the same still holds true, but it can't hurt to try. Just ask for "vegetarian". If it is US Scare, don't bother. You'll get a slimy ham sandwich anyway.

I've been known to shell out $5 for their snack boxes which really aren't that bad. But its been a long time since I've had a regular in flight meal.

4. Well, they don't serve food in coach anymore. Although when I recently flew

first class for the first (and probably last) time in my life, the food was actually quite tasty. I was impressed. And jeebus did I love the seats that turn into a full-on bed. I want one for my own bed at home. It was sooooo comfortable.

The food wasn't at all bad. I was expecting much worse.
