and you know what? I was about to give you my opinon. View on, my friend Me, I tend to think that the few moments when that show present men as compassionate and tender human beings is so rare, so scarce as to be positively embarrassing. But then I guess the idea is to appeal to yer common man.

From a sociological standpoint, the show says more about the folly of a narcissistic lifestyle than it does about compassion and tenderness. I just like sarcastic comedy, and it does have a lot of that.

That's not true, about not having secrets: I'm madly in love with an old friend who had a thing for me and the timing never worked out, back-and-forth: She was my boss, then I moved away, then I came back and she was in a serious relationship, then it ended and I was in a relationship, then I moved to NYC and just as I was about to drop everything and run back to her as her engagement ended the bottom fell out of my neatly-ordered life: I moved to DC, she was single. I went home for the holidays and she had just started seeing this guy a month or so ago; she thinks she found "The one" (He's not, he's a dipshit who uses women for meaningless sex (not that I have a problem with that as long as one is honest and he is never honest.) and is dating at least two other women that I know about.) and she asked me if I still had feelings for her...and I said I did not. I lied. Also, I'm a hopeless romantic. That's two secrets.

Given it's only 1am here that's not surprising. My secret is not a pretty one, the squeamish should avert their eyes. Remember the 80s? Remember Cabbage Patch Dolls? Horrible things. For two weeks in my otherwise aesthetically unblemished career as a puppeteer I performed a Cabbage Patch promotional puppet show. This stain on my past took place in the toy sections of big department stores in nine different shopping malls and before numerous sticky, impressionable children. I didn't do it for the money, I did it to help out a friend who was short of a puppeteer, I swear. But I'm not proud of what I did. Nope. Mea culpa.
