Congrats to Alabama and to Texas QB Gilbert.
Both are winners.

Gilbert threw some great passes.

1. What a game
And yes, Gilbert was great. What a situation for him to be thrown into, and what a way to respond!

However, I am a 'Bama fan, so....

ROLL TIDE

2. Gilbert is 18 or 19 years old.
Congrats on the win.

This was an exciting game.

3. Can you even imagine how that must have felt?
"OK, son, you're now the starting quarterback. Against the nation's #1 defense. In a national championship game. Oh yeah, and the entire sports world is watching."

"Good luck."

The kid did great, despite the final score.

10. Must have watched a different game than I did..
Gilbert was just bloody awful. And the passes he did complete most decent high school QB's in Texas would have done it as well. I didn't have a dog in this fight i just wanted to see a good game. And both teams were less than stellar.

4. Gilbert stumbled a bit than pulled it together
I expect to see great things from him in the future.

And never mind both of Gilbert's interceptions on his final two passes, I'll chalk them up to a learning moment that will pay dividends in the future. He will play them over, and over again; woulda, coulda, shoulda.

5. That stuff at the end shouldn't really count against him
He was under tremendous pressure to force something...anything to happen. That's high risk stuff even for a very, very seasoned quarterback.

9. I'm not counting that against him and I understand exactly what was happening
Seasoned? He'll have Joe Montana eyes by the time he's a senior, and a temperament to match. Joe Cool had 31 fourth-quarter comebacks, he knew how to handle pressure.

7. Roll Tide. Gilbert was really good. But we have now made 2 great QBs cry.
Albeit McCoy didn't slobber all over himself like Tebow. RTR or RMFT

11. i didnt watch most of the last half, but in first half, there were a couple plays
that he did well, it was the receiver who didnt get it. a pass into touchdown area should have been caught. then the interception from the bobble should have been gotten.

so, the loss was not necessarily cause of the freshman quarterback from what i saw.

12. I was cheering for 'Bama until the score was 24-21.
Then I really wanted to see Texas pull it out. :(

13. Kid showed a ton of guts
And got no help from his receivers and even less in the first half from his idiot coach/playcaller.

14. He sure did
I was having a hard time understanding Alabama's offensive play calling until I found out that McElroy was playing with two cracked ribs.

Guess he hurt them in the Florida game. They sure did a good job keeping that under wraps!
