Anyone ever moved from the U.S. to Canada?

1. I had a cousin that did and her mother would not speak to her.

Another person by marriage also did, but her family came from there. She just liked the country.

2. I did, in 1986, for a year.

I had a postdoc in Vancouver. It was a wonderful experience.

Important safety tip: Never ask a Canadian what's different about Canada and the US. But I did gain a great deal of understanding about my own country as well as Canada. If I had a chance, I would gladly live in Canada. (A good glimpse of Canadian attitudes and accomplishments is to be had in the movie Bowling for Columbine, by the way.)

Several years ago, an old friend and his wife moved (permanently) to Canada. They didn't regret it at all, but he did say that if he knew how much work obtaining landed immigrant status would be, he might not have gone through with it.

3. I'm there now.

I've been here for about 3 months.
It has been a very educating experience so far.
One of my favorite things to do is look at news coverage about the US on Canadian TV and contrast it with American TV.
