Baby Kitty's in the attic!
oF COURSE he's in the attic. My husband looked for him up there and he can't find the ketchup in the g-d-refigerator door. Daughter 2 is up there now trying to lure him out.

9. Glad to know he's safe. Sorry you've been worried.
I think it speaks volumes about our relationships with our companion animals that we get so very worried when we are not in immediate contact with them. They truly are a member of our family even if they walk on four legs.

Consider this: I bet there are any number of humans you don't see for over 48 hours and yet it never occurs to you to wonder, much less, worry about their well being. If you have extended family--say older parents or independent siblings--you maybe/probably do not see them or talk to them every 48 hours either...

Scold her while you hug her to death.
So glad.

13. Had a live-in girlfriend do that once.
.
Gone for a week, but for some reason I just KNEW she was
close by.
.
Probably because the chocolate that I was leaving inside
the front and back doors would be gone every morning,
although the humane traps had not been sprung.
.
She showed her face again the moment I ran out of chocolate
and starting leaving carrot and celery sticks in the traps.
.
I was angry until I scratched her lower back and she raised
up the way they do... and all was forgiven.

14. Oh,,,, and wonderful wonderful wonderful news.
.
I'm very happy for you. I know the sense of despair/panic
you've almost certainly been constantly fighting since she
disappeared.
.
And you probably know that it does absolutely NO good to
scold a cat. Used to scold mine and she would give me a
quick very unique meow that I interpreted as "But I'm not
doin' nothin'". Kali corrected that misunderstanding right
quick by telling me my cat was saying, "Fuck you."
.
I listened closely the next time it happened, and I'll be
darned if Kali wasn't spot on.

20. You have a kitten and a two year old? ???? No wonder the little guy hid up there.
One of my cats is terrified of toddlers. I'm guessing because they are so unpredictable.

23. I got my last cat from a shelter.....
.
and the previous owners (she was about a year old) left
a good history on her. She was by FAR the sweetest cat
I have ever had. So gentle that when I stepped on her
once, she didn't lash out but just looked up at me with
big hurt eyes (and don't I STILL feel awful about it).
.
They had to give her up because she couldn't co-exist
with their toddler.
.
She was so peaceful and pacifistic and loving that I
can't even BEGIN to imagine what sort of toddler-hell she
must have gone through with that child.

29. So happy BK was found! Our Simba, when he was a kitteh, disappeared.
Looked all over the house. Thought he must have gone outside (in and out cats)and would show up.
No show all day. Next day still no Simba. I'm standing in the kitchen, making breakfast, and I hear
a plaintive meow. Where is that coming from? Enlist oldest son and we finally track Simba
to the crawl space under the kitchen (accessed from basement boiler room) and he had gotten UNDER the plastic cover in the space and couldn't find his way out! We cut a hole in the plastic and rescued him!

33. LOL!!!
I'm glad you found him safe and sound! I have to laugh, because a friend of mine had a somewhat similar story involving her new kitten. She couldn't find him anywhere, and thought he had gotten out somehow. She looked for hours. Then she heard some mewing. It was coming from the refrigerator! She opened the door, and voila! There he was. He had climbed in when she had the door open, and she didn't see him in. Silly things.

Don't be too hard on your husband. I once looked for my cat for an hour, and was in near panic thinking he had disappeared. Then I went into my bedroom and saw his dirty, black nose sticking out in between the folds of my comforter. He had flattened him self down enough that he didn't make a lump, so I didn't realize he was right under my nose the whole time. Even though I called and shook the treat container, he didn't come running. That was really strange, considering what a chow hound he is.
