Hundreds Strip in NYC for No-Pants Subway Ride
Edited on Sun Jan-10-10 08:21 PM by Elmore Furth
Yea hah!

Hundreds of New Yorkers have been riding the city's subway trains in their underwear.

They stripped down to their undies on Sunday for the ninth annual No Pants Subway Ride.

The idea is to act like nothing unusual is going on.

Participants met up at six locations throughout the city. They formed groups and dispersed to subway stations to catch trains. Once inside the subway cars, they began calmly removing their pants and folding them up.

1. Happened in Portland, too
Chilly, but not freezing. Out of consideration for my fellow citizens, I declined to participate. You're all very welcome.

6. Do you ever think our grandparents are rolling over in their graves?
If they're dead, of course.

If not, they're probably just rolling their eyes.

7. If I learned how to roll my eyes, I learned it from my Grandma, for sure.
So this roll at the Wacky Shit is in her honor: :eyes:

8. Me too.
It's the wackiness for its own sake that I hate.

12. Exactly.
That, and the whole, "Look at me! I'm being...Wacky! In a fun and challenging way to shock you out of your complacency!" That was tired in college.

9. A bunch of my friends participated.
Including one friend I really would like to see in his underwear. :P

I wonder if his girlfriend (also a friend of mine) would mind showing him off. :)

I would participate with them, but the subway lines are not wheelchair accessible. The few that have elevators don't have theem at enough stops to make the lines really usable, and the elevators are chronically out of order.

:(

10. Big deal. Back in the 70's we had streakers.

13. And check out the smile on the cop who has strategically deployed his helmet.
Mild amusement, I think. Or as David Niven said after he watched the streaker
cross the stage at the Academy Awards..."Ah, another young man demonstrating his shortcomings."
Or something like that. We were cool in the 70's.
