It's been a long time since I've written anything, and all the poetry
that I've written has fallen by the wayside over the years, but I still
remember the very first poem that I got published (I got a little more
serious in my writing after this, but I/we've always liked it). Sorry

3. Thank you.

I'm feeling the urge again. It took two full years from the time that I decided
that I WANTED to quit smoking to the day when I quit cold turkey. That was about
12 years ago now.
.
Point being that sometimes I'm a little sluggish in getting started on what I really
want to do.
.
And I really want to start writing again.

It'll come.

A tulip,young and it slip
Tall grass and short mean men
Please stop that clip

4. My turn, my turn!

By memory (from a couple months back) ---

Why were you born so beautiful -
What was God trying to do
When he made us a girl
In this dreary old world
As hopelessly pretty as you?

Why, when this spring turned to summer
Why did you wake up my heart
It feels joy, it feels pain
It feels lonely again
Why did you make it all start?

I ride up to the (bar) on a Sunday -
Friends chat, but I just don't care
As the clouds roll in
And the autumn begins
All I know is that you won't be there.

As I pay, there's your face on the mantle
So I bow down my head to your shrine
And whisper a prayer
To the angel that's there
To ask that someday she'll be mine.

If there's love on this earth, there is hope -
Be my girl, be my world, then my wife:
I'd stand by your side
And sleep in your arms
And love you the rest of my life.

5. LOL, I'm only two half-wits myself, if not less

Here's my well-remembered but still-indecipherable abstract poem from my college days:

Terse, succinct, the sand grain frets,
The hosts so lazily encircling round.
And moving, finding it regrets
The wholesome, bulking, breeding ground.
