Singing dingo wins trivia award
An Australian dog who sings, dances and plays the piano has been voted the country's top trivia item. Dinky, the star attraction at a pub in the outback, is a three-year old dingo, as Australia's wild dogs are known. He beat hundreds of potential trivia icons through his talent for singing to piano music, and even tapping the keys a little himself. The competition was organised to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the popular Trivial Pursuit board game. Owner Jim Cotterill said he spotted the dingo's talent when one of his daughters was playing the piano one day.

"Dinky started to throw his head back and give us a bit of a yodel," he told the AFP news agency. "He often walks up on to the chair, on to the piano, stands on the piano and then moves his feet around."
Mr Cotterill owns the Stuart's Well Roadhouse in Stuart's Well, about 90km (56 miles) south of Alice Springs, where Dinky now performs for tourists.

The canine crooner's strength lies in his upper vocal range, according to Mr Cotterill. "Low notes are just too low for him, but the mid to high range must set off something for him in his ears that he then responds to," he said. To clinch the title awarded by the Australian edition of Trivial Pursuit, Dinky had to beat serious contenders. One candidate was a man who can stationary jump on his unicycle 232 times per minute. Another boasted an ability to clip nine out of 10 toenail cuttings into a paper basket from more than a metre away.
