Involving the New Madrid fault system. A good read (wish I could remember the title), but the nukes themselves would'nt be nearly big enough!

And there have been non-nuclear explosions of atomic bomb proportions - Texas City, TX - a shipload of amonnium nitrate fertilizer blew up. 1947, IIRC. And an ammunition ship blew up in the Halifax, NS harbor. Incredible damage, but not like Haiti.
A friend of mine was a merchant seaman in the 60's, on oil tankers - he was in the port at Texas City (near Huston) several times - he recalled an old silo, well over a mile away, with a big chunk missing.
