Why do people insist on carrying on inane conversations and ruining an otherwise good concert? I left a concert early tonight because the volume was way too low and I all I could hear was other people BSing.

I had that experience once. I went to see someone I really love playing a small venue, opening for someone else. Most of the people were there for the someone else who pales in comparison. The guy that was opening stopped it by starting to whisper his lyrics. That quieted folks down. We talked to him after his show, and left before the second act.
I have never been to a house concert where people were that utterly rude before.
