1. He is one of the few doctors initially on the scene and a neurosurgeon
He has done a good job to be sure. And as he said - he was a doctor long before he was a journalist and he will always be a doctor first

5. political differences vs. saving a 12 year olds life.
I would hope most would recognize a good thing and not feel the need to condemn.

15. Political differences that lead to saving many lives vs. saving a 12-yr-old's life.
I think that's what you meant.

his medical skills in this situation.

7. I was a little troubled the other day...
...when I watched him go down the street to look at a 15-day-old baby with a scalp laceration. He had a nurse with him who had medical supplies. He did not wash his hands or use any antiseptic or gloves when handling the baby's head. That really surprised me -- it's the first instinct of a medical professional to protect the wound from germs.

19. Me too. It wasn't about hand washing, but that whole episode sat badly with me
I can't exactly pinpoint why, but during the whole thing I was thinking: FOOD you idiot! She's 2 weeks old, her mother has died, so maybe she needs something to eat or drink? But she got a nice bandage on her head instead.
