69. Yes, both are road courses and
and both favor right turns. Perhaps you should locate your steering wheel on the right side to feel more comfortable, it's what all the vintage British racing cars appear to do at Sonoma.

It's important to keep your spotter in his comfort zone so you should tell him that is is more than acceptable to drink beer, and there's an old saying in Sonoma Valley — I know it's in Texas, probably in Napa too, "It takes a lot of beer to make wine".

One a' them stump jumpers up there gave him a jug without no label, said it came from a tiltin' Hilton - we found him talkin' to a gas pump, he thought he was in a Bryar Patch or sumtnin', kept tellin me we was goi'n the wrong way around, and to watch out for the turtles in the pond. We had to lock him in the hauler! Got one of the Modified drivers to spot for us - we done Ok, once I figured out "Son of a howah!" meant check up....

that's fighting cider and if he consumed enough of it he would not know the difference between Bristol, Tenn, and Bristol, England.

I understand the pit crew boys over there drink it an never even bother with floor jacks. You can always identify the jack man, he weighs between 25 and 30 stones, wears hobnail boots, has very large rough hands, and a scrumpy blossom on his face.

21. HST quotes:
"Bill Clinton does not inhale marijuana, right? You bet. Like I chew on LSD but I don't swallow it.'"

"Did you see Bush on TV, trying to debate? Jesus, he talked like a donkey with no brains at all...It was pitiful...I almost felt sorry for him, until I heard someone call him 'Mr. President,' and then I felt ashamed."

"Jesus! How much more of this cheap-jack bullshit can we be expected to take from that stupid little gunsel? Who gives a fuck if he's lonely and depressed down there in San Clemente? If there were any such thing as true justice in this world, his rancid carcass would be somewhere down around Easter Island right now, in the belly of a hammerhead shark."

"Nixon was a professional politician, and I despised everything he stood for -- but if he were running for president this year against the evil Bush-Cheney gang, I would happily vote for him."

"Bush is a natural-born loser with a filthy-rich daddy who pimped his son out to rich oil-mongers. He hates music, football and sex, in no particular order, and he is no fun at all."

"I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me."

"The genetically vicious nature of presidential campaigns in America is too obvious to argue with, but some people call it fun, and I am one of them. Election Day -- especially a presidential election -- is always a wild and terrifying time for politics junkies, and I am one of those, too. We look forward to major election days like sex addicts look forward to orgies. We are slaves to it."

"Who does vote for these dishonest shitheads?"

There are about 40 progressives and 40 conservatives in the Senate, with 20 "centrist" assholes who run the country. One seat isn't going to change anything.

(1) You have a Democratic Governor.
(2) Most, if not all, of the major state political offices in your state are held by Democrats
(3) So you have one Republican Senator. But all the rest of the congressional delegation are Democrats and all but one of them are solid progressive Democrats to the left of the Democratic Caucus. And even the one who is slightly more conservative is not a Blue Dog
(4) You still have a great progressive Senator in John Kerry
(5) Scott Brown will pollute the national scene for only three years. His election, while deeply disgusting, sad and deplorable, will hopefully gavlanize the state Democratic Party and give it renewed energy and drive going into 2012. And come 2013, chances are that we'll have a great progressive in that seat again. Three years does seem like a long time but the reward at the end will be well worth the wait

71. Perhaps a bit of perspective

No matter how disappointed, angry or sad you feel (and as a fellow citizen of the commonwealth I have the same feelings over that election result) the world, the universe is still ok...not happy bliss kind of ok, just ok.

Unfortunately Brown may cause more suffering or at least delay some relief of suffering and fortunately you are still here, still able to write and do all your good work to change things for the better as are so many others.

The road is never easy but it is always there. And really this is all to important to take so seriously. :)

Have a smile, do something you love!

77. Mensa Invitational 2009 Winners
The Washington Post's Mensa invitational once again asked readers to take any word from the dictionary, alter it by adding, subtracting, or changing one letter, and supply a new definition.

Here are the 2009 winners:

7. Giraffiti : Vandalism spray-painted very, very high.

8. Sarchasm : The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person who doesn't get it.

10. Osteopornosis : A degenerate disease. (This one got extra credit.)

11. Karmageddon : It's like, when everybody is sending off all these really bad vibes, right? And then, like, the Earth explodes and it's like, a serious bummer.

12.. Decafalon (n.): The gruelling event of getting through the day consuming only things that are good for you.

13. Glibido : All talk and no action.

14. Dopeler Effect: The tendency of stupid ideas to seem smarter when they come at you rapidly.

15. Arachnoleptic Fit (n.): The frantic dance performed just after you've accidentally walked through a spider web.

16. Beelzebug (n.) : Satan in the form of a mosquito, that gets into your Bedroom at three in the morning and cannot be cast out.
