What's really hilarious is that the original pledge (which is only a little over 100 hundred years old, so less than half the age of this country - it's neither part of our founding nor is it required to say ANYWHERE) was written by a socialist Baptist minister (of course, you and your dittohead Kool-Ade drinking idiot cohorts wouldn't know a real socialist if it bit you on your fat white ass) WITHOUT 'God' in it. That was added per a pressure campaign by the Knights of Columbus in 1954, at the height of McCarthyite hysteria. As for prayer - well, what part of the establishment clause of the 1st amendment do you not understand? Shall we accomodate everyone and throw down a prayer rug toward Mecca? How about some Buddhist meditation? I just had an old "friend" I know from the music scene try to say that the Massachusetts vote was basically a mandate from Americans who are sick of the Democrats being too liberal. I was semi-polite but let him know quite firmly that whatever planet the Democrats are too progressive and don't compromise on must be pretty nice, and that he is a deluded idiot. He's one of those who also will intentionally try to create drama, so the best way is to just point out where he's wrong but without getting sucked into the bullshit he likes to create.
