16. My Grandfather is reported to have had that accent. I never heard it, but my father could imitate
it perfectly.

It must have been very sexy.

The guy, my grandfather, used to disappear for years at a time - sometimes going to Canada so he could join up and fight in other people's wars - come "home," as much or as such a home it was - stinking drunk, beat the hell out of my Grandmother and all of the kids resulting from his previous visit - including my father until my father was big enough to fight back - and leave after impregnating my Grandmother again.

This accounts for my existance.

Eventually some one murdered him in a bar fight. Most people who knew him were relieved, except my Grandmother, who was inconsolable with grief reportedly.

When she was in her hot and sexy 70's, I asked my Grandmother something about this and she said, "he was a very nice man until he got that silver plate in his head."

Um, okay...

Maybe it was the accent...

Another fun time was when I asked my aunt - when she had become an old woman - about her father in a restaurant, and she began cursing like a sailor on a bender after two years at sea. It was, I think, the only time I ever heard her swear.

This may account for the fact that Scots is one of the few accents I can't mimic. I'm afraid of the sound.

29. Oprah said she couldn't understand a word Susan Boyle said.
I know her accent is thick, but what planet's Oprah been on that she can't understand it? It's not an unusual accent.

23. Either...
Edited on Sat Jan-23-10 10:59 AM by Chan790
I like both accents. New Zealand, Irish as well. Not so much for Spanish, Italy, Japan, China, Arabic...trying to think if there were any others mentioned in this thread. I have a friend from Lithuania, her accent isn't so much sexy as rendering her completely incomprehensible...some people are into that though. I've never liked Scottish, mine comes out when I've been a drunk...I don't know how, I've never been to Scotland and neither have any of my living relatives on that side (except my kid brother)...heredity?

The best though is Greek...it drips sexuality coming from the lips of a pretty woman.

I also have a love for Spanish men, ahhhhh. My husband is Costa Rican and has an accent. I don't notice it anymore like I did when I first met him, but when I was getting used to it, ohhh my gawd. I could listen to him talk all day. I feel very lucky to have married an exotic man =)
