2. Hey! We got one too! How cool is that? Matching tornado watches.
Mine's in central Florida.

Pinch poke, you owe me a new aluminum siding.

5. A funnel cloud (a weak tornado) hit my dad's house about 12 years ago.
It rattled all the windows and shook some Christmas lights that were still up. It didn't break a single one, though. Then it went across the street and uprooted a tree.

Tornados are funny things (funny strange, not funny comical).

4. We've got some pretty wild wind here right now!
Fortunately, I don't hear a "freight train" noise, like I'm told a real twister sounds like.

:scared:

It's been a crazy day here in the Vally of the Sun!

6. Right after I made these posts, our power went out!
Obviously, it's back on now.

We have a heck of a wind storm right now. It's more windy than rainy.

7. It's been almost non stop rain here
I live in west Mesa and it's quite windy as well. Not sure the status on the watch as the local news is no longer on. They said it's until 10 or so.

8. That's what I heard as well.
I-40 is shut down between Winslow and Kingman and I-17 is closed between Flagstaff and Camp Verde!

I don't remember that happening before, but I'm sure it probably has.

9. As a Kansas Resident,
Please heed these warnings,These things are nothing to scoff at...

This was taken out of my car window two years ago...and that little spot sticking up outta the grass on the lower left is a house and garage...just to give one a bit of size perspective.

10. It's at the "watch" phase as far as I know
If it goes to the 'warning' phase I will figure out something.

I've been told to go to the bathroom if there are no basements or some underground room but there are so many myths regarding tornado safety I'm not sure what to believe. Either that or hang out in the middle of home. Any advice would be welcomed. I never seen or been around a tornado before.

14. Head for...
Edited on Thu Jan-21-10 10:18 PM by PJPhreak
The smallest room in the house with few or no windows...bathrooms fit the bill.Grab a mattress and cover yourself with it. Most injuries and deaths from tornadoes are form flying debris...remember these things will puncture an 18" inch tree with a broom straw!

better yet if there is a tornado bearing down on you try to get out of the house and down into a ditch,or the lowest point on or near where you are.

If one has the chance a grocery store or restaurant walkin refrigerator is as good as the bathroom in your house (if not somewhat better) but think fast. Do not waste time.do not try to outrun one of these things in your car! Get As Low As You Can!

12. I'm a pretty solid, centered, not-easily-pushed-about guy.
.
Getting off the bus today in Tucson -- unprepared -- I was pushed
for several steps in a direction that I had not intended to take.
.
Yeah... it's a mite blustery.
.
And just an absolute PERFECT day for this particular picture.
