Mid-70's, wandering aimlessly down the K-damm in West Berlin, and all of a sudden I hear some SMOKIN' HOT Dixieland jazz somewhere ahead of me. . Grand opening of a multi-story department store and, to draw people in, they have an 8-pc live Dixieland band playing in the entranceway. I work myself across that WIDE boulevard in order to talk to some fellow Americans and come to find that these young musicians were from SCOTLAND and had never actually seen live Dixieland, but had learned it all from listening to records. . Authentic American music played in Germany by a Scottish band. . How cool was THAT? .
