Movie help, please...
I saw this flick about 16yrs ago, and even then I think the film could be from the late 70's/early 80's.

The film is about a post-apocalyptic society in which there are teams of 4(perhaps 5) guys/gals that go around to different communities playing a certain "game."

In this game, you got like a goalie, a center and two offensive/defensive players, and in this game they have very brutal weapons, and killing is very encouraged. The point of the game is to score the ball in the goal net....

The movie focuses on one of these teams(I think one of the team mates was a woman), and throughout the movie they finally get to go to the big leagues and play this sport in one of the only civilized Cities. I believe the main actor/character use to play in the Big League games, but got booted because he didn't get along with the leadership of the City.

I thought for sure James Caan was in this movie, but from imdb.com I can't place it, so I'm thinking he wasn't in it. I recall the main actor of the movie using a very large chain like weapon, with a mace attached to the end.

1. The Blood of Heroes?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Blood_of_Heroes

What little entertainment is available in these times comes primarily from a brutal sport known only as The Game, and the merriment that follows after the day's play. It is played by bands of roving teams known collectively as juggers, who challenge local town teams. They pass for what might be considered professional athletes, as they make their living through the tribute paid by the people of the town, should they defeat the local team. Their trophy is the dog skull from the town. The Game involves two armed and armoured teams of five attempting to score by placing a decorated dog skull on the opposing team's goalpost. One unarmed player, "the Quick", runs with the skull, protected by the team's other members.

Never saw it, I was just bored and started googling. Stars Rutger Hauer and Joan Chen.

2. Fucking bingo,
well, the movie wasn't as old as I thought, but thats it...thank you for that, for some strange reason I was thinking of that movie tonight, but I couldn't place the name.

I mistook Rutger for Caan. I didn't realize Private Pyle was in the flick either...

4. I've got a movie like that, and I've posted here about it to no avail.
I only saw parts of it. It had a bald guy that looked kind of like Stanley Tucci who was (I think) married to a bored red head who was constantly reading a book about having affairs, until finally she meets a neighbor who seduces her at a party. Meanwhile another woman who was engaged to someone else seduces the bald husband while he was sitting on a staircase. There's nothing explicit--all the naughty scenes are implied. I used to remember more of the movie, but now I've forgotten it.

It's not "Streets of New York" with Tucci and Heather Graham and Edward Burns. That was the only suggestion anyone had. I can't find it by searching Tucci films under IMDB, so I think it wasn't him.

The movie stuck with me because of the dialog--lots of implied rather than stated communications, with pauses and glances and innuendoes. But alas, I can't find it. :)
