I don't think it's fair to cherry pick the singles and leave out the deeper cuts. I think it's like taking a painting of Mona Lisa's smile, the Sistine Chapel ceiling and Starry Night then calling it the best painting ever.

I suppose live albums are out too? Because I'd maybe go with Concert for Bangladesh.

But if we're sticking to solo studio albums of all-original material, I'd probably go with Imagine, or maybe Double Fantasy if I can skip past all the Yoko songs.

If we're gonna count any and all post-Beatles work by these guys, I'd probably go with Traveling Wilburys Vol. 1.

Back then they would still let you do that. I just never liked George's music that well.

I'll admit I haven't heard them all, but my choices are always weird: "Flowers In The Dirt" and "Give My Regards To Broad Street".

17. Conventional wisdom says "Band On the Run"

and it's probably true, song for song. Flowers In the Dirt is a excellent piece of work, and if people would listen to Electric Arguements with an open mind...but most folks closed their minds about McCartney years ago so whatever.

Though I thought the whole idea of releasing it under a psuedonym, and then appearing in the fucking videos for the album was kinda dumb. As if it was going to sound somehow NOT like Paul McCartney?

23. Tough call

The top three, IMO, are the usual suspects: All Things Must Pass, Plastic Ono Band, Band On The Run. Depends on my mood, but I find myself listening to ATMP more (though the half-assed all-star jam session part bogs it down). Interesting to note that the album was made with many of the musicians who also comprised Derek and the Dominoes (the Layla album is another personal favorite).

Here are the best:

John: Plastic Ono Band, Walls And Bridges (there's one out of left field). Imagine is okay, but a bit overrated. Some Time In New York City is very over-the-top and is hated by many, but the album freakin' rocks!

Paul: Band On The Run, Run Devil Run (a rowdy album of mostly cover songs recorded with Pink Floyd's David Gilmour, Deep Purple's Ian Paice and others), Chaos and Creation (it grows on you after awhile - probably the deepest thing Mac ever did), Memory Almost Full (a good straight-ahead pop/rock album that gets overlooked), Electric Arguments, Flaming Pie, Ram. Flowers In The Dirt has some great songs but is a bit bogged down by forgettable filler. I list so many McCartney albums because his output has been so abundant. And I'm a McCartney fan.

George: Shot his wad on ATMP. The stuff following it took a serious dive in quality, though his self-titled 1979 album was pretty good.

Ringo: Never really got into Ringo's stuff, though some of his more recent stuff has been fairly decent.
