1. Hi Peggy
Did you hear how the Silver Lake area fair in the storm? Still can't reach one of my sisters. We're playing phone tag.

Last time there was a bad storm, though, her apartment flooded. :-(

5. If the sky there feels like the way that it looks like it feels, you should be in heaven.

6. My dear Bucky...
Huh?

Hmmm...

Well, it was quite chilly, for us. It's in the low 50's and though I know that's nothing compared to most of the country, I'm not used to that. It felt sharply cold.

Love your picture too!

Thank goodness, it is clearing, at last. I woke up to the rain this morning, and I thought oh please stop.

We are soggy with it!

Glad you enjoyed the pics...

11. What a remarkable coincidence, CP. My latest poem is called "After The Storm"...
After The Storm

Copyright © 2010 Amerigo Vespucci

After the storm
I look at the sky
After the storm
I ask "Why"
Why am I wet?
How can I forget?
Can I change that which I regret?
"NYET"
The record shows
I took the blows
And did it MY way, bee-yotch.

19. The sheer unbridled enthusiasm in your reply makes me think of an encounter I had earlier today...
...I had to visit a client and pick up their new menus so I could update their Website.

When I designed the Website, I pretty much had a schoolboy crush on Jenna, one of the waitresses.

When I walked in I thought "I hope Jenna is here..."

And she was.

So I walked up and said "Hey! Remember me?"

And she gave me the once-over and said "Kinda..."

And I said

KINDA???

Which means I need to leave more of a lasting, initial impression. I'm thinking i need to carry a fat wad of cash, all large bills, and just peel 'em off.

Or I need to go everywhere without the benefit of trousers.

Haven't decided yet, but in glass half empty, glass half full terms, Jenna may have given me the "do not proceed" sign, but that just makes me available for all of the other ladies out there who can appreciate a poet who also can design Websites.

On the surface, you may THINK there are a lot of guys who can do both.

In REALITY, there aren't.

22. THAT is a great story, lol!
I would strongly recommend that you not go out without trousers....esp. if you are going commando!

And I'm sure that there are lots of prime time ladies who would appreciate a poet who can also design websites!

Go for it!

13. I'm envious
You've been getting our weather. We haven't had a power outage all winter, and it's looking like the warmest January ever recorded here in Pugetopolis.

21. I believe though, you kind of needed some rain out there. I remember the times
Edited on Sat Jan-23-10 12:07 AM by NNadir
one felt compelled to flush using shower water and stuff like that. I always felt great after a heavy rain.

And you can see the mountains from the entire LA basin after the rains...makes it a different place.

I remember a guy in a lab I used to work in who used to use water aspirators for vacuum, when a simple pump would have worked as well. I always wanted to strangle him, but he insisted that his chemistry would only work with water aspirators.

Sheesh...

I remember the "March Miracle" of the early 90's - what year was that? - when they were talking about bringing tankers of water into the central coast.

The storm's been big news, but without snow in the Sierras, you're in a hard way in SoCal, no?

24. My dear NNadir...
Oh, yes, we were in dire need of rain. I remember those times too...

The snow level is supposed to be down to about 3000 feet, IIRC, in the local mountains.

And yes, we desperately need snow in the Sierras; as far as I know, there has been quite a lot.

Relief for another year...

There were 27 foot waves yesterday as that giant thunderstorm blew in lat night. That was a monstrous storm by any measure in intensity.

Alas, no wave pics today.

These were taken from my house, which is back aways from the beach.

I hadn't been noticing the sunset till it was actually happening, and that left me no time to get down there...

Perhaps I might get some this weekend.

OK?
