I'd like a trucking tattoo on the inside of my right forearm. I've also got a really cool idea for a sleeve on my left arm, but that might be a little too ambitious here at the get-go. There is also one I'd like to get on the outside of my right forearm. I want it to signify overcoming obstacles, but I don't know what that might be. You all know me and my battles with insanity and addiction. What would be a good symbol for overcoming that?

2. You're thinking that might be a good overcoming obstacles tattoo? |

Or a good trucking tattoo? It would be a good trucking tattoo, but I think I'd get a stylized semi rig for that. I don't see the other angle.

3. No matter what you face, keep on truckin'. |

Yes, I think it a perfect "overcoming obstacles" tattoo. The comic "Keep On Truckin'" was a symbol of late 60s optimism. :)

It could have a dual meaning as well. Mine and the overt one. Thanks for the suggestion.

5. I know someone who has small dots tattooed on his upper arm |

to represent each year of his sobriety. Most the time they're covered by clothing. It's not meant to be showy, just to represent his own personal commitment.

But people get tattoos for all kinds of different reasons. It sounds like they really help your friend stick with the program.
