Will Someone Please help me with my avatar?

It keeps telling me my avatar exceeds the maximum blah blah blah allowed by the administrator. Trouble is, I don't really know what size my pics are (they are on my desktop, but downloaded from the 'net. I'm just tryna get a cool little lady bug to match the cool little me. ) :hi:

I trimmed some white space around the edges before scaling in an effort to preserve as much of the original artwork as possible.

It really suffered when shrunk to 48 pixels but the larger one preserved some of the fine detail.
