Here is why I don't get the "rec/unrec" feature

The content is so abhorrent , I am inclined to unrec to express my disapproval.

Or , The content is so abhorrent , it deserves to be more visible and discussed more , so I should rec it ?


I still have not decided on the best way of using this feature , and I bet many Duer's use it in a contradictory manner creating a rift in the spacetime continuum.

That's the only consideration I use.

Well, not really. I unrec threads that are about rec/unrec, threads that devolve into a rec vs unrec war, and threads where the first reply is a complaint from the original poster that their thread has already been unrec'd...but other than that, it's the only consideration I use...lol.

4. The requirement of 5 Recs is very small to make the Greatest Page

and surely we have more than 5 freeper-trolls who could get it there.

There are flat-out some OPs that merit an UnRec and others depend upon what each individual thinks. I know this, that the threads which truly deserve lots of Recs tend to get them and since the UnRec function we don't get a lot of nonsense "Rec this" threads. The cream generally rises to the top.

(I also UnRec threads complaining about the feature, and it is said to see posters whining about an UnRec with the very first response to an OP and to say nothing else about it. There are those who use UnRec who are like trolls and love the attention. Too often people complain about an UnRec because they just cannot believe that anyone could ever disagree with their thread.)

Which is kinda weird, considering the fact that I never look at the Greatest page.
