To Bar/Bri, or not to Bar/Bri........

Seems like everyone takes Bar/Bri, but I'm curious if anyone here has any good or bad things to say about them. The course is about $2500 and I don't have a job lined up after graduation. I would have to put it on a credit card.

The general consensus seems to be that it's better to take Bar/Bri and pass the bar, than to fail and have to wait 6 months to take it again. I need to sign up fairly soon, I think the deadline is beginning of March...:shrug:

1. I took that course many years ago and found it very helpful. The

practice exams are probably the most valuable part of the course. With respect to the $2500...look, you've gone to all the trouble and expense to get through law school, why risk flunking the Bar Exam? If you look at the statistics, it gets harder and harder to pass the Bar if you've flunked it the first time. If I were you, I'd take the course. Money well spent. Good luck and take those practice exams until you're blue in the face! :-)

2. Take it - it is worth it.

1. It enforced discipline. You have to go to class. Less procrastination.

2. Practice tests are the best.

3. Professor Convisor has a really bitching Rolls Royce (he really does - I've seen it)

3. Good points AA! I'm remembering how lonely studying for the Bar

was. Very isolating unless you go to the course classes and meet with a study group. Hard to find the discipline without some support.

5. I looked at taking the bar exam like a job. A job where I could play golf five days a week.

My schedule was: get up early. Read for an hour. Go to class from 9-11 or 12. Hop in the car, play golf. Back home by 6, read until 9. Bed, unless I was going out drinking.

I had a good summer and a good handicap.

4. The class is worth it!

the course teaches you how to take the bar exam (although, I also finally learned Civ Pro when taking it :-)).

I used bar bri to help me become licensed in 3 states.

6. Do it.

It's a racket that has created its own need for itself. As a result, if you don't take it, you will be competing against everyone else who has and will be at a disadvantage.

7. Monstrously overpriced

Look for a Multistate review course. They're cheaper, and will help you just as much as BarBri.

And passing the first time is surely cheaper.
