I live in western PA about 40 miles from Pittsburgh, and we're not exactly on a heavy-traffic air corridor. We get a few jets, but most of them are at high enough altitudes that we barely hear them.
Some kind of jet just went over, apparently slowly, and it rumbled the whole sky. The noise was still going about 30 seconds later, so I went outside to try to find it, but it's too cloudy. The sound persisted at about the same volume, though perceptibly moving from north to south, for another 15 seconds or so, then faded comparatively rapidly (considering how long it had gone on before that).
Weird. Could be a trick of the atmosphere, I suppose, or the harbinger of an alien invasion. Other than that, I'm flummoxed.
