1. Depends greatly on what it's being used for.
When I'm writing a story for work, I find myself working in any of several sans. When I'm writing my novel, it's a serif. WTF?

although i use bookman on my personal websites. the writing on them is more book like, i think. stories and explanations of strange art works.

Don't know why.

6. Times New Roman (serif) for writing.
Arial or some other sans serif font for power point presentations.

10. Try Bookman Old instead of New Times Roman.
It's easier on the eyes :)

18. My default, too :)
I also like Centaur, just not how they did the "1"; it looks too much like a capital -I-.

7. I & l. The first is a lower case L. Next is an upper case I. Serif.
Otherwise confusion ensues.

13. no
the lines of serifs pull your eye forward to the next letter. That's why books are set in serifs.

(except on monitors where the lower resolution screws up the smooth curves of the letters)

19. serif for body text, sans for headers
Serifs are okay for headers, too. But sans for body text should be avoided in most cases. :)

22. Definitely serif.
Prettier and easier to read. Sans can be harsh. And is always less interesting to look at.
