1. Thought you meant U of Minnesota.
Or U of Maine.
Or U of Montana.
Or U of Mississippi.
Or U of Missouri.
Or U of Manitoba...

2. Might I humbly suggest my alma mater, Central Michigan University?
Not as good on the academics (unless you're a journalism major). Way better on the keggers.
John
I should know -- that's what they threw me out of there for. Chip-POOOO-Wah! anyhow.

3. Central has a lot of nice skate spots, I hear.
The downside is that Central is in Mt. Pleasant, a town consisting of a casino, a coffee shop, and a few cornfields.

5. And party stores
Dozens of party stores. Also, since I only live(d) 45 miles from campus, I could shuttle into Saginaw in about an hour. Lots of good parties here, too. Like FUNDAY.
John
It is now 87 days, 11 hours and 44 minutes to FUNDAY. Hope to see you here.

4. UoM has a pretty crazy party scene, or so I gather.
Didn't some frat kid die of alcohol poisoning last year or something?

Maybe it's just a really stupid party scene.

6. Go Green. Seriously, look at all options.
Michigan State here, so I can't honestly advise you. Depends on your major.

7. Michigan, late '70s

There was a good party scene on the weekends, especially during football season, and a nice mix of interesting people. However, lots of people wanted to go on to graduate or professional schools and the academic competition for them was tough. The tension level on campus would shoot sky high just before organic chemistry midterms.

From what I've heard lately, the situation is about the same: good parties, good and interesting people and an academic emphasis.

I loved it, but I'd recommend going out there and hanging out for a couple of days to get the feel of the place.

If you do decide to attend the Big U, check out any programs that would put you in a smaller group where you will not feel like an extra in a cast of thousands. I was in the Honors College, but there were a few other programs like the Residential College within LSA. The smaller dorms were also better than the giants.

Good luck on selecting a college! Finding the right one for you will make for a very happy 4 years.

Amanda
