I could be coming home to more gore than found in "The Passion"
I'm starting to find 2 cats to be a REAL hassle. Abbott and Evita still can't stand each other.

Usually when I'm out of the house, I put Evie in the bathroom with all the fixin's she needs to be amused, fed and littered for the day. Somehow, that dang cat managed to get the door opened and I couldn't find her anywhere. It didn't help that I had 2 minutes to get out the door and about 5 minutes worth of stuff I needed to do before I could leave.

So Abbie and Evie are home together, free to roam the same range without supervision. I'm fearful that there will be carnage when I get home. ANd I'm fearful that Abbie will never forgive me (he didn't great me when I got home yesterday, I was about it tears).

I really adore little Evita, but I'm thinking maybe getting a second cat wasn't such a great idea - especially if I lose the adoration I would get from Abbie.

1. Try rubbing catnip into fur of each!

That's one trick I recall. I introduced a stray kitten into the household pet heirarchy of one very gentle five year old male Australian shepherd and one "princess" of a one year old, female domestic shorthair cat. The kitten was friendly, but the princess was hissing and spitting and arching like mad. Both of the cats loved the dog and eventually (months) things settled down, with occasional outbursts. Once the kitten grew full size, the cats seemed to alternate who got to be dominant.
Google pet behavior for introducing a new cat to an older cat.

They each made it to old age before taking off for pet heaven, and I still miss each of them. I'd love to hear an indignant meow in the next room again, or find all three of them curled up in the middle of my bed for an afternoon nap, with the dog in the middle and a cat on either side.

2. Try spraying both of them with tuna juice.
Worked for our two kitties.

3. Our 2 cats managed to get themselves shut into my daughter's bedroom while
we were gone, and crapped and pissed all over the bed, and completely trashed the room! What a mess! We had to buy a new mattress.

5. Give it time
I've gone through many kitty introductions, and depending on the cats, some take longer than others, but eventually they stop hissing and learn to live together, and even had dogs thrown in the mixture for added fun. Really, LynnSin, give it time, it will get better. Just keep them apart as much as possible now, and give them their own space.

7. I know, I'm just a person of little patience
I mean - I want to have 2 happy kitties who want to play with each other and have fun with me when I get home. Instead I have a war zone

6. They'll be fine.
If they really can't tolerate each other, they'll just run to different rooms and hide from each other.

They'll get used to each other eventually, don't worry about it. And Abbie will go back to his normal adoring self eventually as well, it just takes a while.

My roommates cat (the female tabby) used to come in my room and jump on my lap for attention. After Quinn came on the scene, she didn't do that for at least 2-3 weeks, then she was back to normal. Don't sweat it.

You're a great mom to your furry kids, don't be so hard on yourself :).
