What is the worst/meanest thing you've ever done?
There was a gal that I used to work with that was afflicted with constant talkitis and buttinski interruptis. She was absolutely UNBEARABLE! Nobody wanted to hurt her feelings by just waling away or telling her to shut up so we ended up developing little tricks to "save" each other.

I was the only one who confronted her. When she interrupted me or butt into a conversation that she was not welcome I turned to her and said, "excuse me, I'm sorry, did I interrupt you?" She got the message. When she came to my desk to talk, I said "no, we you not going to talk, I am busy."

But I did take part in these saving missions with other people. They amounted to telling them they were needed somewhere all of a sudden, or calling them at their desk when she showed up to talk. One of my girlfriends used to sneak a dollar into my desk somewhere every time I "saved" her by calling her because I wouldn't take the money.

I wish people would have been honest with her but I did take part in this charade. Finally management did intervene with her and she was crushed that she had been made a fool of by so many people and they were not just honest. Surprise. *sigh*

So what was the worst or meanest thing you've ever done?

1. I once cut off a cat's whiskers with a pair of edge clippers
I was really young -- maybe 8 or 10, and it was an impulse. I didn't realize how important whiskers are, and I felt terrible the next day when the neighbor lady was speculating on how someone could do such a terrible thing.

Another silly thing that I can't forget, that I did on impulse -- when I was five years old, I was standing in a line behind my uncle, and he was wearing shorts, and suddenly I was seized with the impulse to pull out one of his leg hairs, which I did. I had no idea he would even feel it, because of course I had no leg hairs. He was furious, and it scared the HELL out of me, and I felt terrible for doing it, because it was so random.

Oh the burdens we carry!

2. In 1982, I was mad at my friend's girlfriend in HS, so
I painted a nine-foot-tall caricature of her sucking a dick on the side of the school in the dead of night, with her name. The pal and I had graduated, she was still a student there, and it reportedly wrecked her. She was out of school for about a week. I came across her email address three years ago and she forgave me.

What shits we are in adolescence.

8. I know. And I knew the second I ran away from the school.
Felt bad the next day, worse when a mutual friend chewed me out over it. Emailing her and posting it here are the only times I've spoken of it in 20 years.

Edit: I had to take out a do so it wasn't do do :)

9. Parking rage.
I and some girlfriends had gone Christmas shopping while in college. The mall was jam packed and a parking space was at a great premium. We sat waiting patiently for someone to get their packages unloaded, get in the car and back out. Just as we started to pull into the spot another car with two girls comes whizzing around the corner and cuts us off and zips into the parking space. They were laughing their heads off. After I found another spot we went over to their car and using a bobby pin let all the air out of one of their tires.

I did another tire thing in college too (long time ago). This guy stood me up two nights in a row with no phone call so I went to his apartment and let the air out of all four tires on his van. Looked like a cracker box sitting on the ground.

12. A girlfriend of mine did the tire thing with a guy she was dating
but I'm not so sure that she was not the villain thinking back. He was a law student and she a nurse and he dumped her. She let out the air on all 4 of his tires twice in revenge but in hindsight I think he was smart to dump her.

If he got away with a disable car a couple times he was lucky.

13. The guy showed up Sunday afternoon.
We were supposed to have gone out Friday and Saturday night. He said sorry he had fallen asleep both nights but did I want to go to a movie then? I went and he told me about his tires. I asked him if he can think of anybody who might be mad at him. He said no. I asked him to think hard - was there anything he had done that might have ticked someone off? He said no. About a week later I told him I was the one who did it and he did not believe me. I had to really convince that I did it. We stopped dating soon after, which is for the best.

14. I Saw A Similar Thing
at a grocery store parking lot in Virginia. A woman was sitting with her blinker on, waiting for a space to empty, and a man zipped into it before she could. My friend and I saw her and suggested she let the air out of a tire. She not only deflated all four tires, but apparently she had a tool (pliers or something) in her car that allowed her to break off all four valve stems.

We saw the guy mad as a wet hen at his car, and we told him that's what happens when you act like a born-again asshole. I'll never forget the look on his face when we said that!

11. An underground newspaper in High School
I did this with a few friends and basically there was no one we didn't tear to verbal pieces who didn't deserve it in one way or another, and I don't regret disparaging the manhoods of sexual harassing, misogynist assholes which described most of whom we insulted, but I suppose in theory it was rather mean to have assorted articles, poems, and viscous cartoons of other schoolmates that we put on the locker of nearly every junior and senior and the rest hid all over the school.
Administrators were furious and there was some emergency meeting. They threatened suspension, then expulsion to the "culprits" WHEN they were caught. We were never caught :7, but schools didn't have cameras back then either.

17. Vandalism
On two separate occasions. Both as a teenager. One of them was the car of a hated upper classman who had beat up both my friend and I, so that was revenge. Another was a church just out of sheer drunken meanness. I got away with both of them except for in my conscience.

I had paid for them and he was supposed to pay me back. He didn't so I shot all his tires and told him THERE, NOW WE'RE EVEN, WE BOTH GOT NOTHING. His roommate was rolling on the driveway laughing his ass off.

For the record, I was much wilder (and poorer) back then and it was a rural residence. :D

24. Years ago, some married asshole Republican was hitting on my girlfriend...
She couldn't get rid of him, and I told him to piss off, but he kept harassing her. (I only knew the guy vaguely by professional connections.)

So I called his wife (the number was listed), and told her what her hubby was up to. *That* got his attention -- he got royally pissed at me, threatened me via e-mail, etc. I cheerfully turned the e-mail over to HR and explained the situation -- he was summarily canned.

But I still didn't have the satisfaction I required, so, at a newsstand, I pulled out a bunch of those loose cards from some very weird magazines, and subscribed him to everything I could -- collector plates, knives, dolls, etc. He's probably still getting that sh**. One can hope!

me and my friend Joe took this girl who had epilepsy out to the school yard and proceeded to verbally and physically assult her for about 20 minutes. Maybe we were trying to make her have a seizure. 34. I suck.
I avoided and ignored a deaf woman who really liked me and wanted to date me. It wasn't because she was deaf; I just wasn't interested in dating her. I wasn't a big enough woman to tell her that; I was too afraid she would think it's because she was deaf.

In 8th grade we got a new girl named Teresa in my class. She was from the south. I joined everyone else in class in teasing her mercilessly for her accent. We called her "Per-Say-ent" because that's how she pronounced "percent." At graduation when we were figuring out who'd walk down the aisle with whom and in what order, we said Per-Say-ent would walk alone and bring up the rear, like toilet paper.

I'm forty-one years old and I still grieve for that poor child I tormented.

It's no wonder teen years are so difficult. I wouldn't relive those years for all the money in the world.

There have been a couple other eye openers in this thread. Yours was kind of a normal teenage peer pressure thing, unfortunately.

38. Yes, but I do still grieve.
I exorcised a great deal of personal shame -- some warranted, most unwarranted -- during 13 years of therapy. But I don't think I ever even brought Teresa up in a session.

I did, however, fall in love with a hillbilly from eastern Appalachia. Hmmm...

Welcome to DU, 'Packing. :hi:

When it comes to worst or meanest, I suspect there is where most of us fail. I do have some regrets about some very nice women and how I treated them when I was in my college years. Have gotten kicked in the teeth the other way, though, too.
