grrr, someone hit my car last night, left no note of course
I heard an accident around midnight and looked out the window but didn't see anything, the side of my that was hit is facing away and it was dark so I didn't even know until today, what a nice surprise. It sounded like they were squealing off pretty fast. May they have bad karma follow them eternally!

I think my poor injured car is still legal to drive, although most of the tailight is busted out the bulb is intact? The trunk won't close all the way though so that's lovely, and a nice chunk taken out of my bumper. So out of my range for repairs at the moment, or awhile, and it's supposed to rain, so guess I will have to go to a store tonight and find a car cover, hope it doesn't get stolen, or isn't too pricey. Hate would have to resort to duct tape, but if the hood pops up if I go over a bump I might have to swallow my pride and do what I have to do to get around to make money.

Pardon my vent, it is just such a shock and bad timing (not that it's ever good timing). So much money stress as it is, and this is the last thing I need. oh, well, times like these I remind myself how grateful I am just to have my health and roof over my head...and the freedom to come and go with my own limbs. so could definitely be much worse. but damn, some people suck.

On the other hand, last winter someone did leave a note when they hit my car during our big freeze, so that was cool. Just the luck of the draw.

1. My car was hit once in a parking lot
And that person didn't leave a note either. I went and filed a police report, took a copy to my insurance company, and didn't have to pay the deductible. This was in Michigan, though, with no fault insurance; don't know if your situation is the same. Good luck.

2. hmm, that is interesting
I wonder...how do they know you're not lying though? can they tell somewhat that it was another car that was responsible, or maybe I could get my neighbors as a witness to hearing the accident and seeing the debris in the morning?

3. Well your attitude is still pretty wonderful, about counting the blessings and all.
It takes a balanced and centered soul to see things that way.

All the best to you, freeplessinseattle.

5. took some years to learn:) but I'd trade that car for
my grandparents' health if I could, ya know?

Just one of those things that is a bump in the road so to speak. I should be grateful the car is ten years old with few other repairs-and I have never been injured in an accident, so the things we take for granted become all the more precious sometimes. Ever since the Haiti earthquake I have been so grateful for every day with an intact home and freedom to move and grab some juice from the fridge. Precious little things matter.

Just hope the trunk doesn't get too wet, that will be kind of a pain, but maybe if I lay some plastic down on the inside that could help keep it from being too bad. If someone tried to steal anything all they're going to find is some canned cat food and bottled water, so if they're that desperate..

4. My wife's car was parked on the street and someone smashed into it -- totalled it.
No note, no nothing.

Worst part of it was, the car was paid for and ran great!!

6. I'm so sorry, how despicable! that must've been a shock!
This was so close to being so much worse I really am lucky in a way.
