Any Ween fans on DU?
For most--if they remember them at all--they were a novelty act who had 1 1/2 hits back in the early-90s heyday of alt rock. For me, they've become a musical obsession whose legacy grows richer with each new release.

Any like-minded Ween fans here? If so, favorite albums, songs, moments?

2. Haha, yeah, their participation in that movie mystified me
But then, pretty much everything about that movie mystified me.

3. They were the most horrible live performance I ever endured
They opened for the Foo Fighters at UC Irvine. By the end of their set I wanted to rip the one guy's arms off and beat the other guy to death with them.

4. Really? Wow.
When was that? They're generally an excellent live act, especially when they're playing their own show. I saw them in September and they played an amazing set that scratched the three-hour mark.

Maybe it was that they were playing an opening set? Also, depending on the time period of the gig, their singer might have been going through some pretty heavy-duty drug issues, so that might have affected things.

5. Probably 1995 or 1996
Their act seemed rather self-indulgent.

6. Huh, that would have been around the era of Chocolate and Cheese and
12 Golden Country Greats, two of their better albums. I can see where they might be self-indulgent, they tend to go deep on things to find new directions to pursue.

7. I used to like Ween...
"Voodoo Lady" was the song we always used to put on first in college when we started our games of Tip Cup and Beer Pong.

9. not really a fan but a favorite memory is the Austin City Limits Music Festival
back in 2003. Ween had just started 'Waving My Dick in the Wind' and this naked guy rushes the stage. Really funny because people were like "ewwww" and scrambling to clear a path for him.
