Advice wanted.
I was asked today if I would go speak to the LGBT group at EIU. Although I'm 'out', I've never been one to march, etc., but I also believe that it's important to show gay youth positive role models. Im inclined to accept, although I'd like to have the sheriff's approval (I'll get it).

Your thoughts? Thanks. :)

2. I'd do it
If you feel comfortable doing it- I say go for it. If not, then there is absolutly nothing wrong with that and don't let anyone tell you that there is.

3. A friend asked me.
She's a probation officer, and she would like to show the kids that there is a place in law-enforcement for LGBT people, too. :)

5. I think it is a great idea
Not just to show gay youth positive role models but to also demonstrate to them that one CAN have a career in an area such a law enforcement. Given that substance abuse is a big deal in the GLBT youth community, getting them considering this at a young age could provide a lot more than just the "good example" aspect of it.

Seriously, Tony. You could make a difference in that LGBT group.

Do it.

7. Go for it
You never know the difference you can make in somebody's life. If you reach just one person who is in need of a positive influence in their life it will have been worth it.

8. OK, I will.
After reading all the positive feedback here, I'll clear it with the sheriff and accept. :)

12. I second that emotion!
And another reason to do it: so you can learn and grow from the challenge too! I hope you'll tell us all how it goes.
